Oranmore-Maree GAA Club, Naomh Mhuire Ladies Football Club and Oranmore-Maree Camogie Club are providing first class coaching for all younger teams across all three clubs, resulting in ever increasing numbers playing Gaelic Games in our community. As a result, the Oranmore-Maree Community needs first class facilities and the Rinville Sports Ground Development will help us all achieve this. The purchase of land for this development is a positive and ambitious first step in the vision towards building a facility which will benefit our community for many generations to come.
The population in the parish of Oranmore-Maree is growing substantially, and what was once a small village has grown to over 8,000 inhabitants over a short period of time. Oranmore has been identified as a key area within the Core Strategy of the current Gal way County Development Plan (2015 to 2021), which means the population will continue to grow into the future.
There are four primary schools namely; Maree National School, Gaelscoil de hÍde, Scoil Iósaif Naofa and Scoil Mhuire and one Secondary School; Calasanctius College in the parish and in excess of 2,300 students attending school every day. Consequently, there is a huge demand for recreational, training and sporting facilities within our growing community. At present Gaelic Games have access to facilities in Oranmore and Maree made available by the respective voluntary community organisations and we all owe a lot of gratitude to the community organisations for making their facilities available.
However, over the past number of years it has been accepted that the lack of outdoor training facilities and playing pitches available in our community is impacting on training and preparations of our various parish teams. The Rinville Sports Ground Development will futureproof the development of sport in our community and will transform the level of facilities available for years to come.
We cannot however take this step without the help of our members and the broader community. We need support and assistance on many levels but initially we need to raise the required funds to purchase land required for the project. Therefore, we are appealing to the generosity of the members our community to support the future of local sport by donating €1,000 or greater towards the project.
